Egypt is one of the largest senders of students from the MENA region to China. The educational relationship between the two countries is well established, and Egyptian applicants have a solid track record with CSC scholarships, especially in engineering, medicine, and Arabic-Chinese studies.
How many slots does Egypt get?
Egypt receives approximately 60-100 CSC slots through the embassy channel, one of the larger allocations among MENA countries. The university channel adds further spots without a country cap.

Tips for Egyptian applicants
Choose your field strategically. The program you apply to affects your chances. STEM fields generally have more slots than humanities. But Arabic-Chinese translation, Islamic studies, and Al-Azhar-connected programs are a unique niche for Egyptian students. Read our guide to picking a major for CSC success.
Your degree level matters. PhD applicants have the highest acceptance rate. Master’s applicants are next. Bachelor’s scholarships are more limited. Our comparison of degree levels and scholarship odds has the numbers.
Al-Azhar connection. Al-Azhar University and several Chinese universities have academic exchange agreements. If you are an Al-Azhar graduate, this connection can work in your favor, especially for Arabic language and Islamic studies programs.
Suez Canal Economic Zone alignment. The China-Egypt partnership on the Suez Canal Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone means that research on trade, logistics, industrial engineering, and economic development has natural bilateral relevance.
Document authentication takes time. Getting documents authenticated through the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a multi-step process. Budget 2-4 weeks.
